Space Invader (b. 1969) is a contemporary urban artist from France whose prolific body of work can be seen in over 33 countries. The artist is known for his 8-bit, 80s pastiche and application of Rubik’s Cube colored tiles in high-visibility locations and derives his moniker from a 70s video game of the same name.

Few details are known about the artist. He is rumored to have had academic art training at École des Beaux-Arts in Paris but this has not been confirmed. Space Invader refers to each placement of his work not as public installation but as an invasion. His earlier works were informed by childhood video game nostalgia and recent works also incorporate QR code stylized mosaic tiles.
